Things you will need to know when you request your plate
FOR A REMAKE - Due to plates being destroyed or damaged. A transaction fee will be advised at the time of remake.
The following criteria must be met before the order to manufacture a new set of general purpose plates can be accepted:
- The applicant must be the person registered in respect of the vehicle.

- The original plates must have been damaged or destroyed. If the plates have been destroyed, documentation from an appropriate authority such as the NZ Police or the NZ Fire Service must be provided.
- The duplicate plate must be attached to the same vehicle.
- The vehicle must be currently registered and licensed.
- Private individuals should enter their driver licence number as identification. If their driver licence number is not available then copies of documents which provide proof of full name, date of birth and signature must be included with this application.
- Corporate organisations (non-individual) may have an NZ Transport Agency customer number allocated to them which is to be entered as identification. If a customer number has not been allocated then a Certificate of incorporation must be included with this application.
