Things you will need to know when you request your plate

The following criteria must be met before the order to manufacture a supplementary plate can be accepted:
  • The applicant must be the person registered in respect of the vehicle.

  • The supplementary plate must be attached to the same vehicle as the registration plates.

  • The vehicle must be currently registered and licensed.

  • Private individuals should enter their driver licence number as identification. If their driver licence number is not available then copies of documents which provide proof of full name, date of birth and signature must be included with this application.

  • Corporate organisations (non-individual) may have an NZ Transport Agency customer number allocated to them which is to be entered as identification. If a customer number has not been allocated then a Certificate of incorporation must be included with this application.

  • The supplementary plate does not replace the need for the vehicle’s registration plates. Supplementary plates are to be used temporarily whilst an attachment obscures the ordinary plates.
